This is worksheet to help guide you in selecting the generator for your needs, all figures are estimates, check your specific appliance for more precise power consumption and "start-up" requirements. As a rule heating elements do not require a start-up surge to get them working, pumps and other induction motors do. Where applicable this guide indicates approximate start-up (surge) wattage requirements as well as the watts required to keep the appliance running. The higher start-up "surge" wattage is required for about 30-45 seconds as the appliance starts. You may have to scroll down to see your total watts required at the bottom of this page.
